Coleg Cambria has officially signed the ‘Time to Change Wales’ Employer Pledge. The Pledge demonstrates the College’s commitment to mental health in the workplace
Staff at Coleg Cambria are committed to challenging stigma attached to mental illness and to doing everything that we can to promote the mental wellbeing of everyone employed by the College.
Time to Change Wales is the first national campaign to end the stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health problems. It is delivered by three leading mental health charities Gofal, Hafal and Mind Cymru. 1 in 4 people will experience problems with their mental health in any one year and the stigma and discrimination that people experience can make life with a mental health problem even more difficult than the condition itself. This is why Time to Change Wales campaigns to end the stigma and improve knowledge and understanding of mental health in Wales.
Lowri Wyn Jones, Programme Manager for Time to Change Wales, said:
“Time to Change Wales brings together inspirational people with lived experiences of mental health problems to work for social change – to end discrimination and stigma around mental health problems. More working days are lost to stress, anxiety and depression than any other illness, looking after your staff has never been more important than it is now.
“We are thrilled to have Coleg Cambria to sign the Pledge and join the other health boards in Wales in their commitment to reduce the stigma of mental health in the workplace and we hope that through signing this Pledge it can make a huge difference in reducing the discrimination faced by people in Wales with mental health problems.”
