Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)
This is available to 16 – 18 year olds living in Wales and whose household income is below £20,817 (or £23,077 if other younger siblings live at the household). A payment of £30 per week will be paid every fortnight as long as the student attends every lesson.
Welsh Government Learning Grant (WGLG)
This is available for students aged 19 and over, living in Wales and whose household income is below £18,370. This payment is means tested so amounts will vary, however these payments are paid every term – ie September, January and Easter. Criteria for the payments are that your attendance is over 80%, if this is not the case then the payment will be released when the attendance reaches 80%.
FINANCIAL CONTINGENCY FUND (FCF)
This is available for 16 – 18 year olds whose household income is below £20,817. The FCF will pay for certain items for every course, ie DBS, polo shirts, hairdressing kits etc.
We may also fund for students with children in nursery (fees are paid direct to the nursery, certain conditions apply).
